Leonardo's Library is dedicated to providing reading material and art supplies for children in need.
Leonardo's Library is a 501C3 non-profit organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place. With the funds we raise, we buy books and art supplies for kids who need them.
Our goal is to provide age-appropriate books and material that interest kids - whether they like stories, animals, sports, science, fiction, history, fashion, art, automobiles... whatever gets them reading and engaged in creative work.
The impact of literacy on a person's growth and success is magical.
The negative effect of illiteracy is severe.
The statistics are alarming:
CHILDREN
• Only 31% of America’s 8th-grade students—and roughly the same percentage of 12th graders—meet the National Assessment of Educational Progress standard of reading “proficiency” for their grade level • Among low-income 8th graders, just 15% read at a proficient level
ADULTS
• 43% of people with the lowest literacy skills live in poverty
• 17% of people with the lowest literacy skills receive food stamps
• 70% of people with the lowest literacy skills have no job
• College graduates earn twice the income as high school drop-outs
Whether you help through monetary donations or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
MY FIRST RESUME
Leonardo's Library is starting a new service called My First Resume. To start, we have a call with the student and parent(s), discuss interests, achievements, and goals, in academia and the real-world. Then draft a resume that the student can use for job and school applications, and bring to informational interviews.
